BLOOMINGTON - A local cemetery is opening its gates for an event that puts a unique spin on education.

The 19th annual Evergreen Cemetery Discovery Walk is underway.

It features a wide variety of historical figures, all of whom are laid to rest on the grounds.

This year's lineup features a former McLean County Sheriff, a World War I nurse, and even a pair of circus performers.

All scripts are derived from fact and assembled through extensive research.

Organizer Candace Summers says the event is a great way to learn more about the community's rich past.

"There's just so much McLean County has contributed,” said Summers.  “Not just history, but to United States history and even international history and so this is a great way you can come learn these stories in a fun way."

The Evergreen Cemetery Discovery Walk takes place this weekend.

You can see the show at 11 am or two pm.

Tickets range from $14 to four dollars.

Call the McLean County Museum of History at 309-827-0428 for more information.
