PEORIA – A young couple was found dead inside their Peoria after a early morning home invasion Thursday.
Shortly after 3 a.m. Thursday, authorities were called to a home in 1200 block of West Margaret Avenue.
The bodies of James Anthony Irby, 29, and KeiAmber Beard, 24, were found inside the home. According to Peoria County Coroner Johnna Ingersoll, authorities are investigating the deaths as a double homicide.  Irby and Beard were victims of gunshot wounds. Two children, both of Irby, were also inside the home, but were unharmed. A family member of Irby says Beard was pregnant.
Police have not identified a suspect, but authorities believe they could know the first name of the gunman.
"[According to] evidence that we did collect and conversations that were overheard […] the name "Mike" was said by one of the victims before that victim was shot. So the name Mike was heard," said Cpt. Mike Scally of the Peoria Police department.
For this reason, authorities believe at least one of the victims knew who fired the shots. However, police have not identified any person named “Mike” who might be involved.
Jay Close owns a home right across the street. Close said he recently met the victims and has known Beard's parents for years.
"Two young kids, real nice kids. So it's kinda’ devastating to see something like this happen in this neighborhood," said Close.
Close said the news is a total shock in a “quiet neighborhood, and his heart goes out to the family.
“To have their daughter and son in law to be shot like this is just - I can't imagine what pain they are going through,” he said.
Autopsy results should be released Thursday evening.
