He enlisted in the Air Force in 1989, training as a vehicle mechanic.

After six years of active duty, he transferred to the Air National Guard in Peoria.

In 2000, he realized his true calling was full active duty so he returned to the Air Force.

He served three tours in Saudi Arabia, two in Iraq and one in Afghanistan.

Dave received 26 medals for duty and special achievements.

He also earned an associate's degree and will soon complete a bachelor's degree with American Sentinel University.

Dave, his wife Lilly, and their four children are now stationed at Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina.

He is in training to become a first sergeant while volunteering in his community.
