IHDA Announces Grants for Homeowners

PEORIA - A state-wide grant could give some Peoria homeowners a loan for up to $20,000.
The Illinois Housing Development Authority today announced a $5,000,000 grant to help low-income homeowners make emergency repairs to their homes. 
The grant is part of Governor Quinn's commitment to sustain homeownership for low-income families, seniors, and people with disabilities.
Grants coordinator Michael Sims says, “This offer is up to $20,000 in the form of a 5-year forgivable loan for making repairs such as roofs, electrical plumbing, and essential repairs.
Homeowners can begin applying for the grants starting next spring.
