Illinois State Police Urges Drivers to Stay off Roads

Due to drifting snow and dropping temperatures, ISP says road conditions will continue to decrease.
Illinois State Police are calling Sunday and Monday's storm a life-threatening situation.

Police are asking people to stay off the roads.

Do not go out unless you have to.

Some major roadways in the area are closed off.

And when temperatures dip into the single digits, the salt becomes ineffective.

"We have a lot of troopers out that keep patrolling the roads, but our resources are getting stretched thin," said District 8 Trooper Dustin Pierce. "We need people to stay off the roads and stay home if they can."
