Illinois Tornado: How You Can Help

The Salvation Army is providing disaster relief
PEORIA - The Salvation Army is at work helping victims and first responders after tornadoes ripped through Central Illinois Sunday.

Canteen crews are deployed in Pekin and Washington, Illinois, where there much major damage. The best way for area folks to help those affected is by providing financial support. “Feeding and hydration will be our primary focus, along with clean-up kits where possible,” said Mike Levine, Emergency Services Director. “We had EDS workers in Pekin and Washington shortly after the storms cleared, providing whatever assistance we could.”

Those wanting to support can donate online at saheartland.org, or by sending a check to The Salvation Army, 401 NE Adams, Peoria, Illinois 61603. People can also text GIVEHEART to 80888 to make a $10 donation on their cellphone. People then need to reply YES to complete the donation.
