There has been no change in the state's unemployment rate over the past month. The latest report issued Thursday from the Illinois Department of Employment Security showed that while 5900 jobs were added in August, the jobless rate held steady at 9.2 percent for the second month in a row. IDES Director Jay Rowell says "adding jobs without lowering the unemployment rate underscores the uneven nature of the economy. He believes if consumer confidence stabilizes, the state's unemployment rate could improve.
