NORMAL - A local university took down some big time opponents in a weekend tournament.

Illinois State's mock trial competed in the Yale Invitational over the weekend, and defeated Ivy Leaguers Harvard and Princeton along the way.

The school went to the national tournament last year, and students say that's opened up more opportunities to travel the country for tournaments like this one.

They say victories like this will stay with them for the rest of their lives.

"For me, that will stick with me forever. It was a great feeling and it's a team effort. Without our directing attorney, without my teammates helping her at the bench, there's no way we could have done it," said ISU senior Katie Campbell.

The Redbirds finished 16th overall out of 42 teams in the tournament. Campbell was honored as an outstanding witness for the fourth straight tournament.
