ISU Professor Adjusts to Life After Arctic

NORMAL - An Illinois State University professor is adjusting to life back in the U.S. after spending time in the Arctic Circle.

ISU art professor Claire Lieberman went with a team of 26, from 14 different countries, into the wilderness.

While north, the team observed wildlife and got to hike through the frigid terrain. Lieberman says they were always escorted by riflemen because animals could show up any time.

She says the experience was extraordinary, and whenever she closes her eyes she can still see it.
"It was extraordinarily beautiful. Amazing, I think is the only word for it. The glaciers were gorgeous. Wildlife was like nothing I'd ever seen,” said Lieberman.

Lieberman got back from her trip on Oct. 27. She says her adjustment back to the states has been a little easier since she's been back in teacher mode ever since.
