Julie K Continues With Washington Performance

Kids get a break from the tornado disaster.
WASHINGTON - They counted down till 12:00, but these party-goers celebrated a little earlier than everyone else.

Hundreds packed the auditorium at the Washington Five Points Tuesday. Local songwriter Julie K performed her annual "Noon Year's Eve" celebration. The concert was almost cancelled in the aftermath of the tornado. Instead the artist stayed on schedule, handing out free tickets to tornado victims.

"So we know so many people that were affected by the storm. I know families personally and so we almost cancelled the concert and everyone was like no, no, no you have to do it. Children need something positive and something uplifting right now,” Julie K said.

A portion of the proceeds from the concert will go to the tornado relief fund.
