PONTIAC – Livingston County will soon be losing its sheriff.
Recently, Martin Meredith announced he’s pursuing other opportunities out of state and will retire from his post this fall.
During the summer Meredith focused on a proposal to re-open part of Dwight prison which has been closed by the state.
Martin said the facility could house extra inmates from Livingston County jail and put more people back to work.
No word on the status of that plan.
Martin’s last day as Sheriff is October first.
