WMBD/WYZZ-TV - COOPERSTOWN, NY - Greg Maddux had fun playing baseball.
Now he hopes the next generation of players will do the same.
Maddux, the first former Peoria Chiefs player to be voted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame, arrived in Cooperstown Thursday with fellow Hall of Famers Tom Glavine and Frank Thomas.
And he had a message for the Little Leaguers who hope to follow him to Cooperstown some day.
Go out there and enjoy your friends, get the Slurpee or the Big Gulp after the game," said Maddux, who pitched for the 1985 Peoria Chiefs. "Go to the pool party after practice at one of your teammate's house. Have a good time."
The Hall of Fame enshrinement ceremony is July 27.
