McLean County Starts New Era Sans Recorder

BLOOMINGTON - McLean County began a long-anticipated merger on Tuesday.
BLOOMINGTON - McLean County began a long-anticipated merger on Tuesday.

The recorder position in the county is no more and the duties have been reassigned to the county clerk's office. The move saves the county about $100,000.

While the merger means more responsibility for the clerk's office, no one else has lost their jobs. County officials don't think they'll need to make any more hires.

"I would like to think that things are going to stay the way they have been, as far as attitude and service,” said Mark Bounds, program manager for the county recording department.

County officials noted that Tazewell County made a similar transition last year, and they have done well since their merger.
