Methodist Adding Surgery Entrance and Parking

Methodist Adding Surgery Entrance and Parking
UnityPoint Health Methodist will demolish its oldest parking deck located at Glen Oak and Hamilton Boulevard to make way for new surface parking and a new hospital entrance. Demolition of the existing deck will begin later this month and is expected to be finished by February of next year. Steve Brewer, COO for UnityPoint Health Methodist said the $2.7 million demolition project is the first step in providing improved surface parking for patients and visitors as well as a new, more convenient entrance for outpatient surgery. The project will also include a re facing of the existing Glen Oak wing of the hospital to give the facility a more contemporary and uniform appearance. Some employee parking will be temporarily moved to accommodate the demolition. An existing Hamilton Boulevard pedestrian crossover linking the Atrium and the Glen Oak Medical Plaza with the older deck will also be removed. The new parking area should be ready for paving early next year. The entire project, including the new entrance as well as the refacing of the Glen Oak wing, is expected to be completed by late 2014.
