MINONK - A rural Minonk family is counting their blessings after Sunday’s tornado destroyed their home.
Clean-up has begun, but they still have a long way to go.
Strangers from all over have been volunteering their time and efforts to help the Tjaden family get back to normal.
Donations have poured in with items like clothes, toys, and money.
Despite the devastation, the family looks forward to building a new and better home.
“Very blessed. With the devastation we have a lot to be blessed for, because we are still okay and we found a lot of very valuable and sentimental things,” said Kristi Tjaden.
“Going to move into a rental house next week and after that we’re in the process of starting to do building plans and everything else. Going to rebuild and make it a better home,” said Brian Tjaden.
Several other farm homes were severely damaged in Minonk.
Power was just restored to the town on Wednesday.
