Morton Pumpkin Festival Needs Volunteers

The 47th annual Pumpkin Festival in Morton features a Carnivale theme this year.
PEORIA – Preparations are underway for the 47th annual Pumpkin Festival in Morton.

The Executive Director for the Chamber of Commerce Jennifer Daly said the city is expecting more than 50,000 visitors. The festival kicks off on Wednesday and this year it will feature a Carnivale theme.

Many old pumpkin flavored snacks will be available, but there will also be several new ones to try. “We have king cakes, pumpkin king cakes at the Sweet Shoppe this year and pumpkin jambalaya at our pumpkin grille, so we're really excited about that. we also have a band coming all the way from New Orleans.”

Daly said she still needs about 50 volunteers for Saturday afternoon and evening. If you want to help out, visit www.mortonpumpkinfestival.org.
