Justice Rita Garman will be the next Chief Justice for the Illinois Supreme Court it was announced Thursday. Justice Garman was chosen unanimously by her fellow justices to succeed Thomas Kilbride when his term ends in October. Justice Garman will become the 119th Chief Justice when she begins her new duties October 26th. She first became a judge nearly 40 years ago in Danville.
