BLOOMINGTON - A campaign launched by the city is working to attract new business, but it needs the public's help.

The community is being asked to weigh in on the city's website, regarding new retail they'd to see in the area.

Leaders say recruitment tends to be more successful when then public voices its support.

A selection of stores is listed on the website and participants can offer ideas.

While a specific location hasn't been set, the city would like to fill vacancies in both Colonial and Lakewood Plaza Shopping Centers.

“We think it will help Bloomington stand out,” explained Economic Development Coordinator Justine Robinson.  “It's a unique tool that we're using to hopefully attract their attention.  If nothing else, just to initiate a conversation."

The city plans to use the data at an upcoming retail conference in Chicago.
