Normal Residents Mourn the Loss of a Firefighter

NORMAL - A visitation is held to remember Jeff Hilton, long-time firefighter.
NORMAL -  The Bloomington-Normal community continues to mourn the loss of a man they call a hometown hero.

Tonight, hundreds of firefighters, friends, and family came out to honor firefighter Jeff Hilton one final time before he is laid to rest tomorrow.
Hilton died last Wednesday in rural Heyworth.
Dozens of pictures were set up to remember Hilton’s 14 years of service to his family and the community.
His peers remember him as someone who was always prepared, calling him a “student of the game.”
They say the lessons he taught them will always live on.

Lieutenant Greg Mohr says, “We can’t fill his boots because he’ll be using them to walk beside us. But there’s another pair of boots that’s going to come in and do the job. Our job is to prepare him in the same way that Jeff was prepared to do his job.”
His funeral service will begin tomorrow at 10 A.M. at the Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home.
