BLOOMINGTON - A local business is making cupcakes in honor of breast cancer awareness month

Throughout the month of October, "Sugar Mama Bakery" is selling vanilla cupcakes dyed pink.

100 percent of the proceeds will be given to the Community Cancer Center in Normal which is currently in the process of a multi-million dollar expansion.

Co-owner Susie Tod says the Community Cancer Center approached the shop to assist with its campaign "Mammogram Piece of Cake."

It’s a recipe for awareness she took a step further.

"We like to reach out locally to charities in our community and when they approached us to do this we were thrilled that we had the opportunity to give back,” said Tod.

The pink cupcakes range from a $1.75 to $3.50 depending on the size.

So far sales are strong at Sugar Mama Bakery.

The shop hopes to keep the momentum going through the end of the month.
