WASHINGTON - Tornado victims have one month to apply for federal assistance.
WASHINGTON - Tornado victims have one month to apply for federal assistance.
The deadline to register with FEMA is January 27. Nearly 400 victims out of 1600 have not registered.
Friday, FEMA representatives set up at Menard's in Washington. Officials will work out of Menard's and the local Walmart through the weekend.
They are hoping to get as many people as possible registered before the deadline.
"What we want to be able to do is to register them. If they're not registered, to do a status update for them if they have already registered we can do a status update and tell them where they are at in the process and what's the next step for them,” said spokesperson Deanna Frazier.
There are few ways to register for help. Call 1-800 - 621 - FEMA.  Go to disasterassistance.gov.
Or visit the local disaster recovery center.
