NORMAL - It’s Christmas Eve and holiday travel is in full swing.
Dozens of people waited for the train at Uptown Station in Normal.
Travelers were excited to head back home to Chicago and St. Louis.
Trains ran behind schedule causing some delays, but travelers say seeing their families at Christmas time make it worth the wait.
"It's time to go home for a little bit. Visit my family. I miss them terribly. I haven't seen them in a couple of months so it's definitely something I'm looking forward to,” said Andrew Stanke.
"It's probably one of the nicest feelings that there is. You know, we don't do much with gifts but we like being around family and just eating and talking,” said Kendall Hastings. Some travelers had to wait more than one hour for their train ride home.
