Peoria Civic Center Unveils New Car Charging Stations

There’s another reason why the Peoria Civic Center is full of energy these days.
PEORIA - There’s another reason why the Peoria Civic Center is full of energy these days.

This morning a ribbon cutting ceremony was held as the Civic Center unveiled its new electric charging stations.

The new vehicle stops are located in the marquee parking lot at Jefferson Street and Kumpf Boulevard.

The Civic Center hopes the new stations can boost more green use opportunities in Central Illinois.

It's part of a continued environmentally friendly initiative.

Jim Wetherington, Civic Center General Manager says, “The fact that this is out here and available to the public and there's a lot of businesses that are right down there, we anticipate this getting quite a bit of use.  And hopefully selling some more electric cars in the community because I don't think there's a big sale of the vehicles themselves at this current time because there's no place to charge.”

Regular parking fees will still apply for charging station users.
