PEORIA - Due to the hot forecast, Peoria Public Schools will extend the District's heat schedule through tomorrow, Wednesday, September 11th, 2013.

This announcement is being made Tuesday to help families have the time over the next 24 hours to make any necessary after-school arrangements.

State law requires 5.5 hours of instructional time, including lunches. Lunches will be served prior to dismissal.

Dismissal times will be:

Tier 1 (Middle and High Schools, including Trewyn and Lincoln – those that start their day at 7:30 a.m.): 1:00 p.m.
-Rolling Acres will dismiss at 1:15 p.m.

Tier 2 (Primary Schools, including Harrison, Roosevelt and Developmental Center – those that start their day at 8:30 a.m.): 2:00 p.m.
-Northmoor and Franklin will dismiss at 2:15 p.m.

There will be no afternoon pre-k classes at Sterling or Valeska Hinton during this time.

The district will continue to provide water and extra ice to non-air-conditioned schools throughout the day tomorrow.

Schools still have the extra fans that were delivered earlier in the year. Each school also has at least one air conditioned room that is available as a cooling center for students and staff.
