Peoria High Cheerleaders to Perform at Bowl Halftime Show

Hopes to make it on the big screen.
PEORIA - The lady lions at Peoria high are cheering their way to the big screen with a chance to perform at the Russell Athletic bowl in Florida.

That game kicks off on December 28th and will be broadcast live on ESPN. The only challenge for the ladies is getting there. The team is raising money for their plane tickets and hotel rooms.
They say it's one of their biggest opportunities to work with different schools and choreographers.

"Sometimes they're choreographers that have danced and worked with famous people, like, that's a real big honor for them to be teaching us and it's just, how many high school students can say they were in the bowls and danced at half time?" asked team captain, Trinity Foster-Jackson.

"This is very special for us. We usually don't travel actually out of state to do events like this so this is a very big deal for us,” said the other captain, Detaisha Winters.

The team's deadline for raising the money is November 29. If you’d like to donate, the high school is accepting donations on behalf of the cheer team, just label it “Attention Cheer Coach”.
