A Peoria teen, whose first conviction was overturned in connection with a 2008 robbery, tried unsuccessfully Thursday to get certain evidence in his upcoming retrial suppressed. According to court officials, a motion by 17 year old Shyeim Chapai to suppress was denied. A bench trial was set for November 25th. He was convicted of the October 21, 2008 robbery of the Downtown 66 gas station and sentenced to 21 years in prison. However, that conviction was later tossed out by the appellate court.
