The Peoria Housing Authority announced Wednesday it will be receiving a ROSS grant from the Housing and Urban Development department. The grant, worth about $246,000 will fund the supportive services program which assists residents 62 and older. The grant money will help assist residents to sign up for benefits with companies and agencies that offer free services on food, bus passes, phone service and other necessities. The residents at Sterling Towers benefit the most from the programs which include a monthly community building trip, wellness clinics on site and connecting residents with classes for life skills training, to name a few.
