NORMAL - Illinois State University is searching for suspects involved in a theft reported after Saturday’s home football game.
The crime occurred around 5:30 pm.
$18,000 from the day's concession sales has been taken.
Police say a non-campus employee had been counting the cash in a side office, but then left the room with the door open.
Upon returning, the money had vanished.
Illinois State University Police Chief Aaron Woodruff says officers are looking at all angles in the case but offers a clear message when it comes to protecting valuables.
“If you employ the right cash handling procedure and you employ the right physical security measures you really reduce your opportunity for theft to occur,” said Chief Woodruff.
Concessions are managed by Sodexo Foods.
Police are trying to track down video of the incident.
Anyone with information is asked to call ISU Police at 438-8631.
