Pontiac District 429 Names Interim Superintendent

PONTIAC - The school board approved Kevin Lipke's paid leave of absence from his post as superintendent on Thursday.
PONTIAC - Pontiac Grade School District 429 has a new interim superintendent.

The school board approved Kevin Lipke's paid leave of absence from his post as superintendent on Thursday.

Pontiac police were investigating Lipke for alleged misconduct, before turning the case over to Illinois State Police.

The details of the investigation are few, and board members say they know as much as the public does.

Lipke's replacement is Jim Davis, who has worked in Pontiac schools before and wants to help steady the district for the time being.

"I'm not looking for any permanent position. They're in a situation where they need somebody until the time that they don't and it's a very open-ended situation. So, I'm happy to help out and we'll see where it all ends up,” said Davis.

Board members say Lipke's leave will at least start out as paid. Davis has been a superintendent at Cornell Grade School and was an interim superintendent twice before.
