WMBD/WYZZ-TV - PEORIA, Ill. - High school football practice got a little more intense Tuesday.
"It's kind of like that day that you have all been waiting for where you wear pads," said Tremont senior Caleb Schutt. "You didn't really get to hit anyone and today you can go all out."
Under the new preseason practice guidelines, teams wore full pads for the first time Tuesday. That means tackling was introduced to practice.
"Everybody on the team is all excited to get ready and go out and hit each other and get ready for football, said El Paso-Gridley senior Bodee Epley-Walters."
Prep football season openers are next weekend.
