PEORIA – The holidays are right around the corner and a group of local bikers are doing their part to make a difference for children in need.
They're revving up support for the annual Marine Corps Toys for Tots Campaign.
The event known as "Tucker's Toys for Tots Motorcycle Poker Run" is in its 25th year.
It's in memory of Chris Tucker, a friend of Walters Brothers Harley Davidson in Peoria.
Tucker wanted to make a difference for children who were unable to receive toys at Christmas.
Since the poker run began $200,000 in donations and toys have been given to Central Illinois children.
"The donation has been made possible by all the riders that participate in the event because they either donate $10 in a new toy or put $10 towards the purchase of the toys that we donate for toys for tots,” explained organizer Bill Wiebler.
Organizers hope to collect more than $10,000 in donations and toys from this year’s event.
