Salvation Army Collects Toys, Coats for Kids

When you can help next.
WASHINGTON - Dozens of people donated gifts Saturday to make sure children everywhere have something to unwrap.

The Salvation Army hosted its "Fill the Truck" toy and coat drive at area Wal-Marts. People could donate new, unwrapped toys. The items from the Washington Wal-Mart drive will stay in Washington and get distributed at Crossroads Church. The rest of the items will go into the general distribution center in Peoria for surrounding counties.

"There are lots of people out there that won’t have toys for Christmas and won't have coats for their kids and so this is just an opportunity that we have to help the community and help those who are in need," said Salvation Army Captain, Jeremy Stouder.

The Salvation Army will be in Pekin and Morton for the same event on December 7th and 14th.
