Salvation Army Passes Halfway Mark in Funding Red Kettle Campaign

BLOOMINGTON - The Salvation Army of Bloomington-Normal has reached a bit of a milestone in its holiday Red Kettle Campaign.
BLOOMINGTON - The Salvation Army of Bloomington-Normal has reached a bit of a milestone in its holiday Red Kettle Campaign.

Now 20 days in, it is 56 percent funded in its total year end push. The kettles have brought in more than $115,000.

A few stores have been doing particularly well, and as the clock winds down, representatives hope the bells bring back more holiday cheer for those in need.

"We're kind of worried because it is the 20th day, and we only go to 31 days, but it is promising that the numbers are starting to bounce up. People are starting to respond a little bit better,” said Aly Wrezinski, development director for the Salvation Army of McLean County.

The Salvation Army says it still anticipates an uptick in its needs for next year. Bell ringers are set up in 26 locations across the Twin Cities area.
