Santa Visits Washington

WASHINGTON - Santa made his first trip through tornado-ravaged Washington on Monday.
WASHINGTON - Santa made his first trip through tornado-ravaged Washington on Monday.

He brought his wife, elves and even reindeer to meet with children who were impacted by the storm.

Normally, this group called "Dear Santa" works around its base near Cedar Rapids, Iowa, but they made the special journey to help out those hurting during the holiday season.

Children who went through the line got to pick out toys, games and even food for the family.

"Hopefully we can get them a little bit of happiness today and make everybody feel a little bit better about Christmas and see if we can, you can't forget what went on, but see if we can move on from that,” said Santa.

"Dear Santa" has been around for nearly a decade. Organizers say the group has received requests for Santa and his reindeer to visit from as far away as Chicago.
