State Senator Organizes Electronics Recycling Day

Have you ever wondered what you could do with an old TV or computer?

On Saturday, Normal offered a solution to that problem with a mass electronics and shredding day at the ISU Alumni Center.

Community volunteers and ISU students helped load trucks with old tube televisions and computers.

State Senator Jason Barickman helped organize the event, which works with local charities to reuse and recycle those items.

Barickman says it's the best way to get rid of these items since you can't put them out on the curb.
“Many times people put things in their garage, they sit there for months or years and they look at them, like, 'What am I going to do with this?' Today is just that gentle prodding to say, 'Hey, just bring it out, we'll put it to use,” said Barickman.

Barickman says he expects to hold another electronics recycling day in the coming months.
