Sugar Plum Projects Offers Free Beds for Area Kids

Hoping kids can be tucked in tight on Christmas.
PEORIA- Volunteers gathered to give away 24 complete bed sets Saturday to families who can’t afford to buy all the trimmings themselves.

For the past couple of years, one woman has been on a mission called The Sugar Plum Project.
It collects money to purchase beds including mattresses, box springs, frames, sheets, pillows and blankets. Many of the items were donated by area churches and stores.

"It comes from the, the children were nestled all snug in their beds, visions of sugar plums danced in their heads. And we wanted to, were hopeful that these children would be snuggled in their beds on Christmas Eve if we could help a little bit," said Terry Taylor who founded the project.

People picked up their items at the Peoria Friendship House and if someone wasn't able to, volunteers made sure to deliver the beds.
