Teen Dies in Fatal Car Crash on I-74

PEORIA - A teenager is dead after a fatal car crash in Peoria.
PEORIA - A teenager is dead after a fatal car crash in Peoria.
The accident happened around 10 a.m. Sunday at the intersection at I-74 and I-474.
A pickup truck carrying five occupants lost control on the ice and crashed into another car. Both vehicles were forced off the road and collided with a guardrail.
16 year old Brooklyn Armstrong of Carlinville was ejected from the pickup and pronounced dead at the scene.
Two other occupants were also ejected. All involved were rushed to the hospital.
No other injuries are believed to life-threatening. No one in the pickup was wearing a seat belt.
The Illinois State Police and Peoria County Coroner are investigating. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
The overnight icing is causing many other accidents in central Illinois.  The city of Peoria and Peoria County issued traffic collision alerts around 9 a.m. Monday.
Many vehicles drove off the road and into ditches because of slick and icy roads. Multiple accidents are took place on the interstate. The city of Washington also issued a traffic collision alert.
Drivers are asked to slow down and be careful.
