Jury selection was completed and testimony began Thursday in the murder trial of a Wisconsin woman accused of killing her mother in Marquette Heights. A Tazewell County judge has already ruled hearsay statements can't be used by prosecutors in the trial of Gina Gonzalez. She is facing two counts of murder for the death of her 60 year old mother, Quyen Thi Phan. Police were called to Phan's home on Lincoln Road December 21, 2011. Gonzalez allegedly told police she and Phan had argued a few days earlier when Phan swung a chair at Gonzalez and fell to the ground hitting her head. Police say Gonzalez claims she went to Wisconsin and when she returned, she found her mother unresponsive.
