Local children in need are going to have a brighter Christmas this year.
Toys for Tots of McLean County, along with United Auto Workers local 2488 went on a shopping spree today at K-Mart in Bloomington.
Together they purchased more than $10,000 worth of new toys.
The toys will help almost 1,800 children receive gifts this Christmas.
Every year the UAW collects money from members and organizers say they never have any troubles getting donations.
"It feels great. Knowing especially that there are children out there that otherwise would not have something on Christmas morning that with this program they will have something when they wake up which every child should,” SAID Michael Cappelin of the UAW Local 2488.
The toys will be distributed later this week at the Salvation Army’s community center in Bloomington.
