Twin Cities Energy Company Offers Customers Free Green Kit

BLOOMINGTON - A local energy company is reaching out to its customers to help fix a potentially big problem.

Last month, the City of Bloomington announced its water levels were below normal. Now, Nicor Gas Company is offering free energy-saving kits to its customers.

The kit includes a shower head, faucet aerator and two bathroom faucet aerators. Company officials say it's a great way to save on energy, especially at a time where the weather's getting colder.

"Take advantage of it. It's money out there. It's a rebate program that'll help you make the step to go to higher efficiency. And you will get that investment back in a short period of time,” said Bernie Anderson, community relations manager for Nicor Gas.

The kits are currently in 2,000 households across the Twin Cities area. Nicor is also encouraging residents to consider a more efficient heater, to help with the upcoming colder weather.
