Uftring Auto Group Holds Inaugural Race and Tailgate Event

More than 400 runners and walkers took off Sunday afternoon, in the first-ever Get in Gear race.
WASHINGTON - The Uftring Auto Group is holding its inaugural race and tailgate event.

“Get in Gear” is part of Uftring’s Ambassador Initiative that began as a philanthropic community partnership.

The partnership is a way to get its employees and their families involved in the community, but the event was open to anyone who wants to participate. All proceeds benefit the Peoriarea Blind People’s Center.

Philip Lockwood, a co-director for the race, said, “Part of this is really a message Uftring is talking about. They're in the business of getting people moving, normally in automobiles, but now they're also working toward getting people moving on their own two feet.”

More than 400 people participated in the event. The race offered a one mile run/walk, a 5K, and a 10K.
