WMBD/WYZZ-TV - WASHINGTON, Ill. - Already an all-state linebacker, Chris Freind is being asked to do more.
Washington (5-0) needed the All-State linebacker to pick up another postion. This time on offense.
"Started as a sophomore actually playing fullback as the 3-back in the backfield," said Friend.
He's usually all over the backfield, terrorizing opposing offenses. Now he's putting points on the board for his offense.
"You'll see him playing running back, fullback and even tight end for us. H-back this year," said Washington coach Darrell Crouch. "He's a good athlete. Stand to give us naps on the other side."
"Since sophomore year I've been told (running) backs have to be interchangeable, so I worked on both positions since sophomore year," said Friend. "Pretty comfortable at the position now."
And if there is even a chance that playing both sides of the ball tires him out...
"Teammmates help me," said Friend. "I help them out, pushing them. Just a team effort."
