United Way Gets Larger Grant To Help Ministries in McLean County

BLOOMINGTON - The United Way of McLean County will have a little more money this year to help community outreach organizations.
BLOOMINGTON - The United Way of McLean County will have a little more money this year to help community outreach organizations.

UW officials say they received more than $65,000 this year from the federal government, an increase of more than $1,000 from last year.

The funds come from FEMA, and are distributed to united way and other similar organizations throughout the country, for help with food pantries and homeless shelters.

Officials say they're grateful to have the money for the community.

“The biggest thing is that it really helps some of our local agencies that really address the issues of homelessness, making sure that our families are getting proper meals. It gives them that extra little bit of support,” said Michael Donnelly, director of community impact for United Way.

Last year, the United Way was able to assist nine community organizations with this grant.
