Washington, U-High Set for Playoff Rematch

Panthers and Pioneers meet in playoffs for second straight season

WMBD/WYZZ-TV - WASHINGTON, Ill. - They've been on a collission course for most of the year in central Illinois.

The collission will formally happen at 2 p.m. That's when Washington (11-0) hosts Normal U-High (11-0) in the Class 5A state football quarterfinals.

"Their QB (Arion Worthman) is good as anyone we've seen all year," said Washington head coach Darryl Crouch. "He runs, throws the ball well.  They have good skill guys that can catch the ball well.  That will be a big challenge.  Matched up with those guys last year and the majority of the (U-High) guys are back out there."

The Panthers eliminated the Pioneers, 30-6, in a second round match-up last year at Babcook Field.

"These kids are so motivated regardless of whether or not they get another opportunity to play against Washington or not, or if it was anyone else," said U-High head coach Dusty Burk. "I don't know if there is more to do.  Already motivated, intense and locked in.  Pretty focused."
