Zumbathon Raises Money For Susan G. Komen

Dozens of people took part in a charity work out Sunday.
PEORIA – Dozens of people are getting a work out and it’s benefitting more than themselves. It’s how they are taking action for breast cancer awareness.

Landmark Recreation Center is working with other local gyms for the “Party in Pink” Zumbathon charity event.

Men and women are breaking a sweat in an hour and half Zumba class, but before they began they gave a $20 donation to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Instructor Dawn Churchill said it’s a cause that’s close to their hearts. “Many of our instructors have either had family members or have personally been survivors of breast cancer so that is one of the reasons we decided to do this.”

Churchill expected between 20 and 50 people to take part. She said it’s a fun and healthy way to get the community involved.
