One of the most important items to check-off your back-to-school list? Immunizations.

Peoria Public Schools require all students to have a vaccination by the first day of school. If not, that student cannot attend classes.

So far, less than 1,000 kids have not received their vaccination. Of that total, 2/3 are excluded because they are new to the district.

Faculty and staff will do anything it takes for students to not miss school.

“We could help them to call, set up an appointment. We’ll get the appointment information. And then, the kid can actually go to class,” Sharon Desmoulin-Kharat, Peoria Public Schools Superintendent, said.

Peoria Public Schools will accept all appointments that are setup before October 15th.
