Yesterday members of the YMCA staff noticed six owls on the ground in front of the building. They decided to take their new findings to social media and were amazed at how many people were interested in the exotic birds.
McLean county has surpassed its recycling benchmark for the second year in a row. The Ecology Action Center set a goal for the county of having 40% of its residents recycle. In 2016 the county broke that by having 41% and in 2017 they increased to 42%.
Construction continues for a $10-million dollar facility aimed at helping kids. Funded by private donations, the third location in the country, Almost Home Kids is being built in the former Wee-Tee golf location. The organization will help care for children with complex health needs. Currently the closest facility for children in the Peoria-area is located in Chicago.
Thanks to the newest drop-box installation residents throughout East Peoria now can conveniently and safely dispose of medications in a secure location. Accessible day or night at the East Peoria Public Safety building, you can give away expired, unwanted or unused medication to law enforcement.
