Weekend Meteorologist Adam Sherwinski is the newest addition to the weather team. He graduated from Valparaiso University in May of 2017. With his major being Meteorology. Surprisingly, Adam hasn’t always had an affinity for weather.
When Adam was in middle school he was deathly afraid of storms. Eventually, Adam started to read about storms and how they form. What turned into learning out of fear, became an intrest. He continues to be amazed by the power of mother nature.
While being at Valparaiso, Adam was heavily involved with the university’s television station VUTV. His senior year he became the Weather Director for the school’s station. He has also been live on networks like ESPN3 and TNT during Valpo basketball games, not as player, but as the school’s mascot! When he wasn’t busy with TV or being a mascot, Adam also liked to chase storms with the school’s storm chasing team and do improv comedy. He also had internships with WGN’s Weather Team in Chicago, IL and WCIA 3 in Champaign, IL.
In the summer of 2017 Adam joined our sister station KODE 12 in Joplin, Missouri. Adam was the Weekend Meteorologist and a week day reporter. While in the Show-Me State Adam has covered tornadoes, ice storms, and sizzling temperatures.
When he isn’t in the station he is quite the avid video game player and even somewhat of an outdoorsman. He likes to take advantage of nearby state and county parks. Most of the time he hikes, but he always has his rod and reel ready to go fishing!
