Rebecca Brumfield

Anchor

Rebecca Brumfield is the host of Central Illinois Newsday, co-anchor of WMBD News at 5 with Shelbey Roberts, and co-anchor of WYZZ News at 5:30 with Mark Welp.

When she’s not at the desk, she is making calls to your community. She schedules and conducts daily interviews about timely events, subjects, and current issues. From breaking news to CI Heroes, Rebecca also has a wide range of journalistic skills.

While not anchoring and storytelling, she also helps to produce newscasts. On occasion, she’ll produce Central Illinois Newsday and other broadcasts. Her myriad of skills, along with her ethical news judgment makes her an asset to our team.

Rebecca is “CI Proud” to serve the central Illinois community since 2018. She gives back to the community by serving on the board for Pets For Seniors. Pets for Seniors is an organization that matches cats and dogs from animal control facilities with senior citizens who might need a little help with the responsibilities of pet ownership. She also served on a community rally cabinet for Easterseals. She volunteers in her free time. She spends her weekends with her husband, their daughter, dog Maxi, and cat BG.

She previously worked at Nexstar’s WTWO TV, in Terre Haute, Indiana where she spent nearly two years reporting, fill-in anchoring, and producing.

She graduated from Ball State University in May of 2016 with a dual degree in journalism and telecommunications. She anchored and reported for NewsLink Indiana, a daily student-run broadcast.

If you would like to reach out to introduce yourself, give story ideas, and let her know of a concern or anything that sparks your interest, she can be reached at rbrumfield@wmbd.com.
