PEORIA, Ill. — After about five years of waiting, the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in Peoria is looking to officially open by the end of November.

Hotel general manager John Brinkman said he is hoping to have the hotel ready for guests by around Thanksgiving time for the holiday season. Brinkman said although reservations for the hotel are apparently being taken online, that information is not accurate.

“If you try to make a reservation, you’ll get directed to a different page,” Brinkman said. “You won’t be able to make a reservation at all this month.”

Brinkman also clarified that Thanksgiving time is the goal for the hotel’s opening, but he does not want to give a specific opening date to prevent disappointing anyone if by any reason the date gets rescheduled again.

The hotel was expected to open back in 2017, but Brinkman said those plans were delayed after a pipe burst damaged at least 65 rooms. It has been closed since October 2013, going through various repairs and ownership changes, with the newest owner being Iowa-based Hawkeye Hotels.

The hotel is located at 1218, 500 Hamilton Blvd and is expected to one of the largest in downtown Peoria with over 320 rooms, a new pool, and more features.
